Basingstoke Gang Show first took to the Haymarket stage in 1980.
Initially a yearly event, you can now see our show biannually.
The Haymarket Theatre has been the proud home of Basingstoke Gang Show since the beginning.
Everyone you see on stage is a member of local Scouting and Guiding movements.

Over the years the standard of our show has continued to rise and is regularly recognised and awarded for the exhilarating productions delivered to audiences. In 1984 BGS were awarded the coveted Red Scarf and Gang Show emblem which is only awarded to shows that consistently perform to a high standard.

We are proud to say cast members of Basingstoke Gang Show have had the opportunity to perform and create a plethora of memories on other stages.

The team at Hampshire Scouts Present hold a strong ethos of being ‘Better Together’ and through their initiative Basingstoke Gang Show is part of a collaborative network of Hampshire Scout shows and performing groups. Not only do we go and support each other’s productions, but we also enjoy the experience of performing together. Through HSP we have shared the stage at the Winchester Guild Hall, created an album with music provided by the Spitfire Scout band and a heartfelt Christmas single.

A landmark in 1995 was the invitation to stage a show and closing ceremony of the International Jamborette in Haarlem, Holland - an honour for the show and UK Scouting. This was a mammoth exercise in logistics alone as the outdoor stage and arena to seat 3,000. Our 1996 Show was awarded the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (Southern Region) Supreme Accolade for Excellence in Youth Theatre - Yet another milestone!

In 1999 Basingstoke Gang Show was in a Gala show being held at the Royal Albert Hall "Into the Spotlight". 2007 marked one of our biggest performances for our show as BGS was involved onstage and creatively behind the scenes as part of 'Live 07' at the O2 arena celebrating 100 years of the Scout Association.

Any occasion to get the Gang together is a special moment but in 2023 Basingstoke Gang Show reached a new height as we took the road to CarFest, the UK’s biggest annual charity, family and motoring festival held just outside our home town. Across the weekend we dazzled audiences and entertaining crowds with items from our 2023 show. From the Big Early stage, to multiple ‘busk stops’ and ultimately performing up on the main stage before Craig David & Rick Astley in front of a sea of 30,000 festival goers. An incredibly proud and exhilarating moment for all involved.

Basingstoke Gang Show is a charity that supports other charities. Through the fundamental messages of Scouting and Guiding to help others, we strive to ensure our cast know the benefits of giving help and support to those who may need it.

Since our inception in 1980, Basingstoke Gang Show 2025 will be we will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary with our 29th show.
